This great reworking of The Who's "My Generation" was sung by Peter Wilshaw at the Eccleshall Folk Club (now Eccleshall Acoustic - first Thursday of each month at the Royal Oak in Eccleshall). He kindly allowed us to add it to our collection.

Degeneration

(with apologies to Pete Townshend)

People want to put us down, just 'cause we can't get around.
Need a vest t'keep out the cold (but) don't wanna die just because we got old

Generation, degeneration baby.

Syrup of figs for constipation, don't do sex, lost the sensation.
Need our spec's 'less it's big and bold (but) don't wanna die just because we got old

Degeneration, degeneration baby.

They want us to just f-f-f-fade away, 'cause we can't hear a word they say.
Memory's gone, no concentration, talking 'bout degeneration.

Degeneration, degeneration baby.

People want to put us down, just 'cause we can't get a round.
Need a vest t'keep out the cold (but) don't wanna die just because we got old

The guitar chords are fairly straightforward. The bard reckons it sounds OK to use a barred F# and lift the bar finger slightly to sound the open bass-E for the second bar. If possible, move up a tone part-way through the song
