County and National Competition News - 2026

Some members just enjoy our social bowling and inter-club friendly matches, but others compete in Worcestershire BA and Bowls England competitions. Read of their exploits below!

BE Mens Champion of Champions


 Mark Kaleta won a home draw against Richard Hill (Manor Park BC) 21-5.
 He then scored a 21-15 home victory against the 2023 National Senior Singles Champion, Steve Poiner (Vines Park BC)
 His next game is a home tie against Allan Griffiths (St.Dunstan's BC)

BE Mens Senior Singles


 Peter Hancock lost his away draw against Mark Atkins (Worcester BC) 14-21

 Rod Payne lost 14-21 to Derek Bond (Redditch BC)

BE Mixed Pairs


 Theresa & Peter Hancock beat Judy Drewer and Tony Yapp (St.Dunstan's BC) 17-10.
 They then beat Darren Rosser & partner (Bredon BC) 20-8 with two ends to spare
 They then beat Barry Reynolds & partner from Wollascote Hall BC 21-13
 Finally their run was ended in a 9-22 defeat by Neil Williams & partner (Overbury BC)

 Sheila & Rod Payne lost 12-16 to Mike Peirce & Sally Law (Pershore BC)

 Deb & Chris Sherriff beat Richard Moule and Emma Cooling (Vines Park BC) 21-5
 They then faced Izzie White and Dave Summers from Chester Road BC. Chris and Deb got off to a flying start, going 8-0 up. Their opponents then found the green, with Izzie playing to her National Singles Champion standard, so finally lost 10-18.

BE Mixed Fours


 Lilleshall's four of Theresa Hancock, Sheila Payne, Peter Hancock and Rod Payne scored a 20-11 win away against Christine Bearcroft's team from Evesham BC
 They were then beaten in the area quarter-final 11-19 by Trevor Clark (Bredon BC)

BE Family Pairs


 Theresa & Peter Hancock won their home tie against Trevor Clark (Bredon BC) 13-10
 Unfortunately they then lost 7-29 to Mark Sandoz & partner (Gilt Edge BC)

 Sheila & Rod Payne lost their away tie against Ronald Hilton (Bredon BC) 3-19

 Deb & Chris Sherriff were awarded a walk-over against Carol Harding-Davis (Evesham BC)
 They then won 20-17 away against Andy & Jack Cook (Worcester BC) in an eventful game which included a dead end, an extra end and a fortuitous enemy bowl glancing in for shot when our intrepid pair were holding six!
 They now have a home tie against Neil Clarke (Gilt Edge BC)

BE Club Two Fours


 Lilleshall were awarded a first round walk-over against Bredon BC B.
 In the second round Lilleshall played a home tie against Overbury BC. Theresa Hancock, Deb Sherriff, Peter Hancock and Chris Sherriff were in control of their match throughout and ran out 24-13 winners against Dan Mason's rink. Alan Harvey, Sheila Payne, Rod Payne and Mark Hussell were nip and tuck, fell behind mid-game but recovered to lose 16-14, not needing to play the last end against Neil Williams' rink with Lilleshall running out winners 38-29.
 Lilleshall triumphed in a tight (and very hot) home game against Pershore C. Theresa Hancock, Deb Sherriff, Peter Hancock and Chris Sherriff won 15-11 v Brian Chinneck's rink and Alan Harvey, Sheila Payne, Rod Payne and Mark Hussell drew 14-14 v Anthony Icke's rink - giving an overall 29-25 win.
 Unfortunately they lost the preliminary quarter-final 28-35 against Chester Road BC with one rink winning by two shots but the other losing by nine.

 They were finally beaten 19-16 by Keith Weaver & Andy Chillman (Gilt Edge BC)
