With a couple of late withdrawals only fourteen members contested the Lewis Cup drawn mixed pairs competition. Run on a two-league basis the "letters" league consisted of four pairs who played each other over short games of six ends of 4-wood "Aussie Pairs". The "numbers" league, with only three teams, saw each team play just two matches in the same format.
Dominant in the letters league, with three wins out of three, was Christine Doody and Frank Hill, with Kath James and Mike Hubbard runners-up with a win-draw-loss record. In the numbers league all three teams contrived to win one and lose one, so the winners were decided on shot difference. That saw Frances Hill and Quentin Smith, with +7, ahead of Thelma Stanley and Ted Matthews.
With time marching on it was decided to defer the final to Club Finals Weekend.
