Eighteen members turned out on a warm afternoon to compete for the Jack Borrett mixed-triples competition.
Played as a round-robin of five matches, each of six ends, the competition gave each player the chance to deliver almost 100 bowls on a fast green, tempered by a significant overnight shower.
After three games two teams were in the lead with unbeaten records and a similar shot difference, but the fourth match saw these teams play each other in what turned out to be the de-facto final. A resounding win saw team 'F' surge ahead to a near-unassailable position of two points ahead with a +36 shot difference. Despite losing their last match (as did their only potential challengers) the team of Chris Doody, Rick Wright and Quentin Smith held on to win, having lost just seven ends over the whole 30-end competition.
Traditionally a charity day the players also enjoyed a raffle with several excellent prizes and cakes provided by Beryl Borrett. Over £100 was raised for Beryl's chosen charity.
