    Congratulations to Rod and Sheila Payne, who have qualified for the Bowls England National Finals at Leamington in the mixed pairs competition.

    It was an early start for Rod & Sheila to get to the neutral green (Pershore BC) for a 10am match against Sandra Pritchard and Neil Macklin from Herefordshire. Rod and Sheila started well with two threes and were 8-0 up after four ends. They then posted a killer 4 and were 14-0 up after 6 ends! Singles were traded for the remainder of the match, with Rod & Sheila winning 19-6 with two ends unplayed.

    The victorious pair then headed to Stourport to play for Worcestershire against Stourport to celebrate that club's 150th Anniversary, where they were greeted with warm congratulations. Their first match at Leamington is on 2 September (details of previous rounds).

    Sadly Rod & Sheila were unable to progress further in the competition, being beaten by Sue Allen & Mark Walton from Yorkshire in the first round.
