Sixteen intrepid bowlers took to the green on Sunday 14 June to contest the National Sports Centre Cup 2-wood drawn pairs competition. A full round-robin saw each team playing all the others over six ends.
In the early stages competition was close, with several unbeaten teams. However the fifth round proved decisive and as competition fell away Ruth Lowe and Mike Hubbard remained undefeated and had established an unassailable lead, such that with light rain falling the last round was abandoned and players took an early bath ... err tea!
Extra excitement was added to the day by several low passes from aircraft performing at the nearby Cosford Air Show - including the Typhoon Eurofighter and the RAF Red Arrows.
