Sixteen members took part in a new cross-discipline fixture away at Stone Crown BC on a blustery but thankfully dry Thursday afternoon.
The match was arranged as two groups of four pairs playing over 11 ends and, following refreshments, a further two groups of four pairs with changed pairs. The Lilleshall team was boosted by the presence of Peter Hancock, who as well as being a Lilleshall member also plays crown green at this club!
With Lilleshall members coping with the un-flat green, biased jack and unfamiliar bowls it was no surprise that we lost overall - by 111 to 165, but this only represents an average loss by three shots per pair. We did have five winning pairs: Sheila and Peter, Ruth and Peter (we knew he'd be handy), Chris and Debs, Kath and Quentin and Colin and Quentin.
We will be looking to exact revenge when Stone Crown visit Lilleshall in August for the return fixture.
