Eighteen members took part in the Jack Bayliss Cup drawn 4-wood pairs competition. The nine pairs were split into three mini-leagues of three who played a round-robin over seven ends per game. The three league winners, plus the best runner up, progressed to semi-finals and final, played over six ends each.
In the first league all teams finished with a won one, lost one record and it was the 'Heavy Rollers' (Theresa Hancock and Barbara Barlow) who just pipped 'Lords of the Bowls" (Clive Walmsley and Mark Hussell) by a fractionally better (+1) shot difference. In the seond league there was also a three-way tie on points, with 'Clearly Biased' (Peter Hancock & Rod Payne) coming out top. The third league was the only one where a team - 'The Lawn Rangers' (Colin Meadows & Mike Caird ) - managed to win both games. Runners-up in this league were 'We're on a Roll' (Sheila Payne & Liz Caird) who were the best of the runners-up and progressed to the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals 'Clearly Biased' comfortably beat the 'Heavy Rollers' (11-4) but the second semi-final was much closer, with 'We're on a Roll' beating the Lawn Rangers 4-3.
The final was competitive, but 'Clearly Biased' proved too strong, beating 'We're on a Roll' 7-4. The semis and final were notable for there being two ladies pairs and two gents pairs competing, and also for three "domestics", with Rod & Sheila Payne, Mike & Liz Caird and Peter & Theresa Hancock all facing up against each other!
