Only ten members braved exceptional heat to compete for the Lilleshall National Sports Centre Challenge Trophy. The randomly drawn teams played a round-robin of matches, each of four ends, in the "Aussie Pairs" format. Two teams finished with nine points - Colin Meadows and Marek Kaminski just edging Mitzi Harvey and Rod Payne on shot difference. Winners, with ten points from their three wins and one loss, were Ruth Lowe and Quentin Smith.
Ruth & Quentin are both long-standing club members and are the most successful lady and gent in the club's history, with an amazing 90 competition wins between them. Quentin has also notched up a success in every club competition except the ladies singles and the ladies plate. He says he has no intention of becoming eligible to enter either of those!
